Enacting New Rules

Toronto Condominium Lawyers - Art by David Crighton

The Condominium Act permits condominium corporations to enact rules. The purpose of these rules is twofold. First, they must promote the safety, security or welfare of the owners, the property and assets of the corporation. Second, they must to prevent unreasonable interference with the use and enjoyment of the common elements, the units and corporation assets. These rules are legally binding as long as corporations follow the rule enactment requirements set out in the Act.

A solid set of rules can make managing a condominium significantly easier. With rules that are both comprehensive and easy-to-read, owners will know well in advance about the kind of behaviour expected in their condominium community.
